In October 2023, Maxim Olshevsky, CEO of Astra Real Estate Group, assessed an abandoned building in downtown Calgary. Having immigrated to Calgary from Ukraine at the age of 16, Olshevsky had made a name for himself as a fixer of fixer-uppers. After seeing potential in the mid-rise, he wondered how many other commercial buildings in Calgary were in the same condition.
